Destinations / Maldives
Maldives, matched to the way you want to switch off.
The planning decision is not simply 'which resort looks best?' — it is island, transfer, room, meal plan, reef, activity level and who is travelling.

Why Maldives
- The destination is fundamentally resort/island-led, so hotel choice and transport cannot be separated from itinerary design.
- Official Visit Maldives content positions the country around romance, marine life, wellness, family time and island experiences — not only water villas.
- Transfer mode can materially change the first/last day and total trip cost.
- Meal plan economics matter because most resort stays are self-contained.
- House reef and dive/snorkel access matter more than room aesthetics for active marine travellers.
The Memorable Way
The purpose is not to make every itinerary longer. It is to make each travel day, hotel move and experience earn its place.
- Ask transfer tolerance before recommending a resort.
- Ask reef/diving priority before room category for active travellers.
- Split stays should only be used when the second room experience justifies the room move.
- Family matching should prioritize room configuration, kids facilities and transfer simplicity.
- Do not fill every day: unstructured time is part of the plan.

Before you go
- Season: Visit Maldives describes the dry northeast monsoon roughly December–April and wetter southwest monsoon roughly May–November. The Maldives remains a year-round destination; use season to set expectations and choose activities rather than label months 'good' or 'bad'.
- Visa and entry: Maldives Immigration currently states tourist visa is granted on arrival subject to entry requirements. The official IMUGA Traveller Declaration is currently free and required within 96 hours before arrival. Entry remains subject to immigration assessment. Entry and visa rules can change. Final requirements must be checked against current official sources for the traveller's passport, residence status and travel date.
- Insurance: Appropriate travel insurance is strongly recommended; check the cover suits your own circumstances.

Maldives: common questions
Speedboat or seaplane?
Neither is automatically better. Transfer simplicity, flight timing, luggage rules, cost and the desired island determine the fit.
Beach villa or water villa?
The room should match privacy, swimming confidence, children, budget and how much time the traveller actually expects to spend in the room.
Is all-inclusive always better?
No. Compare the actual meal/beverage inclusions and the traveller's behaviour.
Can marine-life sightings be guaranteed?
No. Season and atoll influence probability, but wildlife remains unpredictable.
Do I need travel insurance?
Appropriate travel insurance is strongly recommended. Coverage suitability should be reviewed by the traveller.
