Destinations / Vietnam

Vietnam, slowly.

Street food and old quarters. Limestone landscapes. Lantern-lit evenings. Historic cities, beaches and river life.

The challenge is not finding enough to do in Vietnam. It is choosing a route that gives each place enough time.

Why Vietnam

Vietnam works especially well for travellers who want variety in one country.

  • Hanoi old-quarter energy, history, cafés and food culture.
  • Ninh Binh limestone landscapes, waterways and countryside.
  • Hoi An an old trading town, rice fields, beaches, and food and craft experiences at a slower pace.
  • Da Nang beach time, and an important gateway to central Vietnam.
  • Ho Chi Minh City a faster southern chapter with markets, historic landmarks, dining and easy access to the Mekong region.
  • Longer trips can add Ha Long Bay, Hue, the Mekong Delta or Phu Quoc when the duration and season support it.

Don’t measure Vietnam by the number of cities you cover.

The country is long and regionally diverse. North, central and south Vietnam have different weather patterns and travel rhythms.

  • Family tripsFewer transfers, and free time kept free.
  • Couple tripsNeighbourhoods, food and atmosphere over forced attractions.
  • Premium tripsBetter time, not more stops: private transfers, better-located stays and fewer rushed transitions.

When to go

There is no single weather pattern for the whole country, so we match the route to the month.

Before you go

  • Currency: Vietnamese đồng (VND).
  • Visa: Vietnam’s official tourism website currently promotes a 90-day e-Visa route for international visitors. The official e-Visa system should be used to verify passport eligibility, entry points and current application rules. Memorable Tourism can assist with the process; visa issuance and immigration decisions remain with the relevant authorities.
  • Domestic travel time matters, so flight and road transfer blocks are shown in every itinerary.
  • Food is an important part of the trip, not an optional add-on.
  • The strongest Vietnam itinerary often improves when one destination is removed.

How visa assistance works

Vietnam: common questions

How many days should I keep for Vietnam?

For a first trip: 6–7 days usually means focusing on two regions; 8–10 days suits north and central, or a carefully planned multi-region route; with 11–14 days a fuller north-to-south trip becomes more comfortable.

Is 7 days enough for Hanoi, Hoi An and Ho Chi Minh City?

It is possible, but it creates more movement. For relaxed travel we usually prefer fewer regions or more days.

Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City?

They are different experiences. Hanoi is a strong fit for old-quarter culture, food and northern routes; Ho Chi Minh City is a faster southern city and the gateway to the Mekong region. The right choice depends on the rest of the itinerary.

Is Ninh Binh worth an overnight?

For travellers who value scenery and slower travel, yes: an overnight makes the experience less rushed. A day trip can still work when time is limited.

Should I stay in Hoi An or Da Nang?

Hoi An suits travellers who want Ancient Town atmosphere, food and a slower pace. Da Nang suits beach and resort stays, city conveniences and some family or premium trips. They can also be combined.

Is Vietnam good for families?

Yes, but the route matters. Fewer hotel changes, interactive food and craft experiences, suitable room configurations and real downtime improve a family itinerary.

Is Vietnam good for honeymooners?

Yes. Hanoi, Ninh Binh and Hoi An work particularly well when the trip emphasises setting, food, private experiences and free time rather than maximum sightseeing.

Does Vietnam have an e-Visa?

Vietnam’s official tourism website currently states that 90-day e-Visas are available to international visitors. The official e-Visa portal should be used to confirm the latest eligibility, permitted entry points and application requirements.

Can Memorable Tourism guarantee the visa?

No. We support the application workflow, but issuance, refusal, processing, immigration clearance and entry decisions are made by the Vietnamese authorities.

Are domestic flights and transfers included?

Only the flights and transfers explicitly listed in your final quotation.

Do I need travel insurance?

Appropriate travel insurance is strongly recommended. Review the cover for your own circumstances and planned activities.
